29th February 2012

Nothing too serious happened with the horses this morning and they all did routine canters. Chris McHale and his son James were here to see their yearling colt by Holy Roman Emperor who is going into training with Marco Botti. Chris is a great raconteur and had us all laughing over a cup of tea and a slice of toast. Our aga is due a service and the toaster has blown up, I think the toast would have been quicker cooked in the sunshine! Chris told us a hilarious story about a mate of his who managed to pull a bird in a lift - the man in question complemented the lady as she entered the lift on the 1st floor and by the time they had reach the top floor he was "snogging her. This appealed to my warped sense of humour and I've found myself giggling about it all day.

Struan Cochrane an old mate of mine turned up unannounced at evening stables, he works on a large estate in Scotland and is spending his weeks holiday traveling the country catching up with old friends. It was a lovely surprise to see him.

Sam is in tomorrow so Chiquilline had an extra scoop of oats tonight!
