I failed to get an entry in on time for Plumpton next Monday, I was convinced in my head that they closed at noon on Wednesday but in fact they closed at noon today. As I've mentioned in this blog before Charlie Brooks has seen and done most of it all before and is very understanding. However, I still beat myself up for being so stupid. Judging by the current ground conditions at Plumpton I guess they'll be lucky if they race anyway.
I took Sholti to football this afternoon after school. He then assisted me and the lads in the yard disinfecting with the mist blower before we headed up the gallop in the tractor to work the gallop.
Mouse and Charlie Balow have kindly invited us up to Cheshire for a hunt ride and a days hunting. I am tempted to take Silver Breese for the hunt ride and Goose my hunter ( who never hunts) for the hunting. Not sure if I'd ever forgive myself if anything happened to Silver charging over large Cheshire hedges. I had a fantstic day with them a few years ago, Christ Stockton is field master and believes his horses can jump anything, having been schooled by his wife Polly I expect they can. I followed him all day and must say that on occasions I certainly couldn't see over the top of the hedges. I fired my horse at one hedge and to this day how I expected him to jump it I'll never know, it was ridiculously huge and he refused.
Sadly, I don't think I'll be able to take the time away from the yard, not helped by Sergey being on holiday. I am determined to have a good holiday at some point this year as we have not been further than Cornwall for a week in the last 5 years.
