A day to forget, having started work at 4 O'clock this morning I can't wait to get to bed and re group for tomorrow. Trouble Digger ran a decent race finishing 3rd, he redeemed himself for his appalling head strong behaviour the day before. The day got considerable worse, Commodus a smashing 4 year old by Osacr fell at the 3rd last when cantering upsides in front and broke his leg. We all live and breath these horses and it is very upsetting when this happens. I spend more time with the horses than I do with my wife and children and inevitably get very fond of them. The lads were mortified, they look after them every day of the year and they too also get very attached to them. It is without doubt the hardest thing to deal with.
Harris a 5 year old by Beneficial was just getting into his race and got stopped to a walk 6 fences from home when a horse fell in front of him and that ruined any chance he had.
Silver Breese is a horse I was given as a school master for James Seivwright who works in the yard. Silver flew the fence and jumped James out of the saddle at the 1st fence. Sadly for James the results will read UR 1st - not something for the scrap book! It's character building for James and nothing but his pride is hurt, he's there for another day and James is getting invaluable experience off him.
When I finished work I came into the house to be told by Tilly that she had "buggered"the rubber on her pencil!
