A very cold start to the day and the gallop was fine for lobbing on, having worked them the previous day all the horses walked and trotted only. Once we had finished exercising I headed off for lunch with Verity Bourne, Verity has a lovely place near Southam north of Banbury. She breeds a few horses and has a few in training. Henry Candy, Ben Case and Mark Usher have her horses in training and I am fortunate enough to be asked to do all the breaking and pre- training. Mark Usher was there too, after a tour of the paddocks to look at her stock we had a very good lunch.
The weather is setting in and we may well take a few horses to Mary Hambro's gallop on Friday, she has a 5.5 furlong poly track gallop that can be power harrowed through cold periods of time.
I was told at lunch that this cold spell could be here for a long as a month, I hope not as the horses are all in great nick.
