I spent a good 45 minuets working what snow hadn't thawed into the gallop this morning, and it actually rode very well afterwards. Working the snow in isn't ideal, if we get a few hard frosts now the gallop will freeze and be unusable. I had no other option though as it was only going to melt into it if I didn't harrow it in. The temperature isn't due to drop drastically until later in the week anyhow. -4 and -5 have been forecast. This must surely make Barbury Castle doubtful at the weekend. The forecasts aren't always right and we'll just have to wait and see.
I would imagine that if we do race there the ground will be dead after the snow lying on it.
Sam is in tomorrow and we'll give a few a squeeze on the all weather if it's safe.
Sophie has gone to the theatre with her mother so I'm in charge of 3 small children. They never make a fuss when I put them to bed and I've concluded that they have their mother wrapped around their little fingers!!!
