15th February 2012

The horses all had an easy day after yesterday's galloping. I was very happy with them all and they seem to have taken the gallop well. Harris will run at Chaddesley Corbett in the maiden and I'm leaning towards the non sponsored one as it is earlier on the card and I am fan of getting the best ground possible for the young horses. I'll walk the course and make a choice which way to. Avidius Cassius will head to Whitwick Manor with Trouble Digger and Chiquilline. Commodus may join Harris and Silver Breese at Chaddesley Corbett. Tomorrow we'll be giving them all a school over the fences.

Once the horses were all done up for lunch we spent a couple of hours raking in the side of the gallop, the harrow pushes it out to the sides and I've not managed to find a machine that levels it so well without breaking up the woodchip.

I collected Custers Last Stand from the vet and his pallet is now quaterised. I am pretty sceptical about soft pallet operations and believe that they work in a minority but when they do work the improvement in some horses is amazing. I won't be holding my breath in this case!
