Once we got back we rode one lot on the all weather before schooling Harris lead by Silver Breese over 9 fences. Harris has always jumped with great enthusiasm at home but seem to lose it last weekend at Chaddesley Corbett. Whether or not he was phased by the hustle and bustle of a race we'll find out on Sunday at Tweseldown.
Chiquilline amused us all this morning, he threw Sam about 6 ft into the air and took off for home. Thankfully neither horse or rider were injured. He came out of his stable like a bull and decided that spring was in the air and he was going to have a bit of fun. Once Sam was reunited with him I sent him for an extra canter as I'll be riding him again tomorrow and I want his back down! We haven't put him anywhere this weekend as he was a little sore shinned after Whitwick and I want to keep working on those shins for as long as possible before we run him again. We hose each shin for 20 minuets every day and then he goes to bed with clay politices each night. The plan remains the same which is to head for Whitfield on 18th March.
We got a shoe back on Beckhani and I rode him. He had a bruised foot, he thought his leg was going to drop off and was being a bit soft. It is important to know when these horses are being soft and when they are actually in pain. After we'd gone 100 metres he was sound as a pound. Horses are like humans, some have a much higher pain threshold than others and some make a fuss over nothing.
All the horses that galloped and schooled at Towcester this morning have clean legs tonight which is always a huge relief after a serious work out.
I received an email from a very kind man this morning telling me that he enjoys reading my daily blog. It was much appricated, I often sit here thinking does anyone read it.
