What a day for Ralph Beckett a one two in the Oaks. Ralph is a very good friend of mine and Sholto's godfather, we shared a house for years in Ashbury when we were both working in Lambourn. I am delighted for him. Ralph was one of the first people to send me a horse when I set up and he has always been hugely supportive. So he should be, I saved his life one night by doing the Heimlich Manoeuvre when he had a large piece of chicken stuck in his throat! I had seen it done before on EastEnders and told him not to be so greedy again.
Channel 4 racing was the channel of choice today as Jonathon Neeson was on RUK. After the Oaks and a nice sunny day the lawnmower was in full swing this afternoon. All the young horses are well and are carrying on with their education in the normal fashion.
