I will go down to Maisemore late tomorrow afternoon or early evening to walk the course, unless it is safe Chiquilline won't run. There is always next year for him. I still don't think we have seen the best of him and think there is some improvement in him yet. Carl Evans rang today to see if he would run, I told him if the ground was safe he would. A trip to the newsagents tomorrow maybe in order for his fan club as I would imagine that he will feature in Carl's preview of the weekends racing in the Racing Post, be warned, take your credit card it costs a small fortune for a newspaper!
The fuel crisis that is yet to happen has sent the nation into melt down. We have local filling station about 3 miles away. They sold out all their fuel on Wednesday shortly after lunch. I had a lovely chat with them today as I know them all well. What is infuriating for them is that all the locals that never use them are taking all the fuel. They are a fitting example of customer loyality. Those of us that use them day to day are allowed as much as we need. I have a monthly account with them and it is seldom under £1100. They have limited non regulars to £20 / fill. It is another thing that I feel strongly about. I know I am paying more for my fuel but supporting local rural business is high on my list of the right thing to do. Every time anyone fills up at the supermarkets it is giving them more power than they already have. They have put a frightening number of small retailers out of business, another small example of why this country is in such a dire state.
