9th January 2013

Routine canters for all horses and an easy day for Billy Biscuit and Full Shift who worked on the grass yesterday.

Tiqris ran at Ludlow today and finished 2nd, he was dropped out and I imagine that the connections were as interested in getting him to settle as they were winning the race. It can take young horses several runs before they settle and learn to race, judging on his previous run at Ascot I'd like to think this was their aim. All said and done I am obviously disappointed he didn't win. Harris another horse I sold finished 3rd in the same race.

Vicky Brain was here late morning to put the overground scope on an older horse, he had a hobday last year and his soft palate fired this year, sadly, his wind has deteriorated again and if the owners want to carry on with him he will need a tie forward. He's a top of the ground horse so should they decide to go forward with it he has all summer to race, unless of course it is like the last when the ground was soft for most if not all of the summer season. Horses would break the hearts of most but it would be a much sadder world without them.

This afternoon my accountant came by and I wish he hadn't.
