5th October 2012

It is flat out from flag drop in the yard at the moment with more horses arriving tomorrow. A great complaint. Jay a local girl is starting on Monday and will ride out 3 lots each morning, this will be a huge help. The horses coats are now turning and the clippers will be starting next week. Most people I speak to have already started to clip a few, we keep our horses very well rugged and are always at least a couple of week later to start than most. The fact they are still being tuned out hasn't helped, if you put heavy rugs on they sweat, so light turn out rugs are still the order of the day.

I rode the Shantou gelding today and he is cold backed, once he's moved off and settled he seems fine. He is 4 and will struggle to make the racetrack in his 4 year old career. We have decided to claim off Connaught Square, Sam will ride him. Sam is as good as any claimer out there and always tries his best.  I hope the rain stops, we had a fair drop last night and at 2 O'clock this morning it woke me up. The ground at Towcester is currently good to firm, I should think it is now good at worse. Connaught Square must have fast ground.

Glens Boy arrived, he is smashing looking horse, I am sure he can win a few staying chases for us.
