22nd February 2013

All horses had routine canters to a greater or lesser intensity. Yesterday, I failed to mention Trouble Digger also school, today he worked on the woodchip and I am very happy with him. I tend to ride the younger horses and seldom sit on him, I always have a sit on most, if not all at some point before a run. The strength in older horses is incredible when compared to 4 year olds and it reminds me how fragile the babies are mentally and phycially. Riding Trouble Digger today also made me realise how simple training older horses is, placing them separates the good trainers from the bad.

A great piece in this weeks Horse and Hound on Kauto Star's new life. I think it is fabulous what Clive Smith decided to do with him. The pictures tell the story, he is clearly very happy with life, to be thrown out in the field and hacked around when time allows would be no substitute to the life he has with Laura Collett.

Gary Moore is hoping to drop in over Cheltenham to see our horses. His horses are running out of their skins at the moment, he is a first class trainer of good and bad horses.
