5th September 2012

The lads have done a sterling job in my absence and the yard has been running smoothly with no dramas. Sam is in tomorrow and we will work Connaught Sqaure.

I was very saddened to read about Lord Oaksey's death. He was a true gentleman and will be remembered for many things, not only his successful riding career but also as the founder of the Injured Jockeys Fund. I am sure Caruthers gave him one of his best days in racing when winning the Henesssey last year and it was a great shame he was unable to attend the race meeting through I'll health. I had the fortune of meeting him on several occasions and he was always delightful to talk to and extremely knowledgeable on many subjects.
