All horses had routine canters before we headed off to Newbury. Major Martin didn't disgrace himself and will improve for the run. Jerry McGrath said he galloped all the way to the line and will be suited by a step up in trip, Jerry was very pleased with him and said he has the makings of a nice horse. It appeared to be a true run race and I am not disappointed. Jerry, rightly, wasn't hard on him and we will see how he comes out of the race before thinking about finding another race for him in 5 - 6 weeks. He's a progressive sort and I think he has made a satisfactory debut. Ultimately, a summer at grass will be of huge benefit to him.
